General measures
- Avoiding overloading!
- Nicotine restriction (refrain from tobacco use).
- Aim for normal weight! Determination of BMI (body mass index, body mass index) or body composition by means of electrical impedance analysis.
- BMI ≥ 25 → participation in a medically supervised weight loss program.

- In special cases, a support corset is needed (rather the exception than the rule!).

- Abdominal and back exercises
- Preparation of a fitness or training plan with appropriate sports disciplines based on a medical check (health check or athlete check).

Physical therapy (including physiotherapy)
Physical therapy can be used as a complementary treatment for tension. These include:
- Red light
- Packs
- Massages
- Electrotherapy
After the acute phase, the targeted physiotherapy should be carried out to build up the muscles (“training the muscles of the back”).
