- Sonography (ultrasound examination) of the Achilles tendon:
- To confirm the tentative diagnosis
- To verify the indication for conservative therapy.
- X-ray of the OSG (upper ankle joint) with hindfoot in 2 planes.
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); computer-assisted cross-sectional imaging method (using magnetic fields, i.e. without X-rays); particularly well suited for imaging soft tissue injuries – in the case of unclear, chronic ruptures or difficult examination conditions (obesity).
