Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of balanitis (acorn inflammation).

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • What symptoms have you noticed?
    • Redness of the glans?
    • Punctate or areal mucosal defects?
    • Swelling of the glans?
    • Itching?
    • Burning?
  • How long have the changes on the glans been present?
  • Have you suffered from it before?
  • Have there been changes in the course of the diseases?
  • Have you noticed any other symptoms, such as fever or problems with urination/intercourse?
  • How often do you have sexual intercourse?
  • Do you pay attention to a daily genital hygiene?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you maintain adequate intimate hygiene? How often do you perform them?
  • Do you smoke? If yes, how many cigarettes, cigars or pipes per day?

Self history including medication history.
