Acute Scrotum: Drug Therapy

Therapeutic target

• Caveat. Never accept a relevant loss of time. The guiding principle in the treatment of acute scrotum is: “Whenever doubt exists, it is safer to explore,” i.e., in case of doubt, surgical exposure of the testis
• Pain relief.

Therapy recommendations

• Therapy for acute scrotum depends on the exact cause (see surgical therapy below).
• If necessary, symptomatic therapy with bed rest, cooling; if necessary, also antiphlogistics (anti-inflammatory)/analgesics(painkillers).
• If necessary, antibiosis (antibiotic therapy) for epididymitis (epididymitis).
