Acute Scrotum: Test and Diagnosis

1st order laboratory parameters – obligatory laboratory tests.

  • Small blood count
  • Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein).
  • Urine status (rapid test for: pH, leukocytes, nitrite, protein, blood), sediment, if necessary, urine culture (pathogen detection and resistogram, that is, testing of appropriate antibiotics for sensitivity / resistance)Note: 11.7% of adults had a urine culture, which was positive in 32% of cases.

Laboratory parameters 2nd order – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Differential blood count
  • Alpha-fetoprotein, β-HCG – if testicular tumor (germ cell tumor) is suspected.
