Adrenogenital Syndrome: Diagnostic Tests

Obligatory medical device diagnostics.

  • Sonography (ultrasonography) of the adrenal glands – to detect hyperplasia (enlargement) of the adrenal cortex.

Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Computed tomography (CT; cross-sectional imaging procedure (radiographs taken from different directions with computer-based analysis)) of the abdomen (abdominal CT) and/or magnetic resonance imaging (computer-assisted cross-sectional imaging procedure (using magnetic fields, that is, without x-ray radiation)) (Abdomen-MRI) – to exclude a gonadal tumor (gonads: male and female gonads (ovaries / ovaries, testes)) or androgen-forming adrenal tumor (extremely rare).
