Adrenogenital Syndrome: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of adrenogenital syndrome (AGS).

Family history

  • Are there frequent metabolic disorders in your family?

Social anamnesis

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Do you have less appetite?
  • Do you feel exhausted, tired, unable to perform?
  • Are you irritable?
  • Do you suffer from dizziness?
  • Girl/Woman:
    • Have you noticed an increase in virilization (masculinization)?
    • Do you have a male pattern of hair (moustache, hair on the chest)?
    • Do not have a menstrual period so far?
    • Do you have menstrual irregularities?
  • Do you suffer from diarrhea, vomiting?
  • Do you have too low blood pressure or too high?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Have you lost body weight unintentionally?
  • Do you want to have children? How long has a possibly unfulfilled desire to have children?

Self history incl. medication history.

  • Pre-existing conditions
  • Birth history:
    • Girl: conspicuous intersex genitalia already at birth? (Clitoral hypertrophy (enlargement of the clitoris) with normal female internal genitalia (uterus/uterine and ovaries/ovaries)).
    • Boys: no abnormalities at birth?
  • Operations
  • Allergies
