Age | Pancreatic cancer

Age

In principle, any person with a pancreas can develop cancer at any age. However, the risk of developing the disease increases greatly with age. Pancreatic cancer in children is very rare and rarely observed.

It can occur sporadically up to the age of 50, but primarily in patients who are exposed to many risk factors. The most important risk factors are smoking, diabetes mellitus type 2, chronic pancreatitis e.g. due to alcohol abuse and obesity. A familial accumulation of the disease is also discussed.

In addition, men are said to contract the disease more frequently than women, presumably because of the increased consumption of alcohol and nicotine. Regarding the frequency of the disease, the zenith is in the range of 70 years.
