Structure and properties
Alizapride (C16H21N5O2, Mr = 315.4 g/mol) is structurally related to metoclopramide.
Effects
Alizapride (ATC A03FA05) has prokinetic and antiemetic properties. The effects are due to antagonism at dopamine receptors in the vomiting center.
Indications
For the prevention and treatment of vomiting, nausea, and emesis associated with cytostatic or radiation therapy and surgery.
