Alternatives

In addition to lip spraying, there are other methods of achieving fuller lips. For example, there is the possibility of inserting plastic threads into the lips. For this, special needles are used to insert the threads into the lips from the corners of the mouth.

An advantage is that this method is permanent in its effect, but the threads can be removed at any time. In contrast to lip spraying, this method does not offer the possibility of correcting asymmetries or the like. It can happen that the lips become inflamed around the stitches, which is very painful and may require removal of the stitches. There is also the possibility of lining the lips with sclera from another part of the body, or by an operation to push tissue inside the lip outwards, so that the lips look fuller.

Costs

Lip spraying is a cosmetic procedure without medical indication and is therefore not covered by private or public health insurance. If the lips are to be injected due to a previous accident or a congenital malformation, the costs may be covered by the insurance companies under certain circumstances. In this case, it is advisable to contact your own health insurance company and apply for reimbursement. If there is no exemption from the insurance company and you decide to have the procedure, you will have to pay for the lip spraying yourself in full.

There are numerous providers who compete with each other and have quite different prices. Cheap alternatives are often available in other European countries, but it should be noted that these providers are not subject to our laws and the procedures may not be performed according to German standards. The costs for lip spraying in Germany are usually between 300 and 700 Euros, it depends on the technique and substance used.

The more complex methods include the autologous fat method, which costs around 1500 euros, or spraying with the patient’s own connective tissue, as these substances must first be purified before they can be injected into the lips. However, the purified own fat can be stored for some time, so that new procedures are somewhat cheaper. In order to avoid unpleasant surprises, you should inquire about the costs incurred before the procedure, especially whether the treating surgeon will charge additional costs for consultation and examination.

In countries like the Czech Republic, depending on the clinic, it is possible to have the operations performed for a few hundred euros less. It should be noted that natural substances such as fat, connective tissue or hyaluronic acid are broken down by the body. If you want to have permanently injected lips, you usually have to visit the aesthetic surgeon twice a year for an operation with these substances.

Artificial substances, on the other hand, offer permanent results and are therefore the cheaper alternative in the long term. It should be borne in mind that lip spraying does not immediately produce the desired result and further costly procedures may have to be performed to your satisfaction. In the event of complications requiring medical treatment, the statutory health insurance companies do not cover the full cost of treatment, but are obliged to share the costs with their policyholders. Nor are patients entitled to sick pay or continued payment of wages due to incapacity to work as a result of such complications.
