Amorololfin | Treat nail fungus with varnish

Amorololfin

The active ingredient known under the name Amorololfin is used to treat fungal infections (mycoses). Amorololfin is widely used in the treatment of fungal infections of the skin and/or nail mycosis. However, coatings based on Amorololfin are not effective against all known fungal forms.

This nail fungus varnish has fungicidal (fungus killing) and fungistatic (fungal growth inhibiting) effects and is mainly directed against dermatophytes, dimorphic fungi and followers of the group of yeast fungi. In direct comparison with other nail fungus treatment products, Amorololfin is by far the best in extensive studies. The effectiveness of the Amorololfin varnish against nail fungus is based on an inhibition of the ergosterol synthesis of the fungal cells.

In this way, by applying the active ingredient Amorololfin, the permeability of the nail fungus cell membrane can be significantly increased and the germ combated. As the active ingredient can only be absorbed by the skin to a small extent, serious side effects are an extremely rare occurrence. Under the treatment of nail fungus with Amorololfin-containing varnish, skin redness, slight itching and burning occur only in very rare cases. However, most patients tolerate the use of Amorololfin without any problems.

Prescription only

Effective drugs against nail mycosis do not necessarily have to be available on prescription. Some active ingredients are sold over the counter in pharmacies in the form of varnishes, ointments or solutions. Patients to whom the nail fungus infestation is unpleasant, have in addition the possibility well effective preparations in on-line pharmacies to order.

However, there are also varnishes for the treatment of nail fungus, which can only be purchased against a doctor’s prescription. All these active ingredients are generally considered to be available only on prescription. In addition, a distinction must be made between those drugs that have to be purchased without a prescription but in a pharmacy (over-the-counter drugs) and those varnishes that can be sold completely over the counter.

While drugs against nail fungus that are only used locally (varnish, solution, ointment) are generally not covered by prescription-only substances, all oral anti-fungal agents are subject to a general prescription. However, there are also products for varnish against nail fungus that are now only available on prescription. The reason for the strictly regulated sale of oral nail fungus medicines is the fact that these orally applicable medicines against nail fungus are usually highly effective and may not be taken without medical supervision. In addition, the typical drugs used to treat nail mycosis, which are available only on prescription, have a whole range of undesirable drug effects (side effects). It is therefore assumed that there is a risk to the patient’s well-being without appropriate medical supervision. Also the strict rules regarding the use of oral antifungal drugs (antimycotics) justify the fact that these are prescription drugs.
