Structure and properties

Antazoline (C17H19N3, Mr = 265.35 g/mol) is present in drugs as antazoline hydrochloride, a white crystalline powder that is sparingly soluble in water. It is also present in some drugs as antazoline sulfate. Antazoline is an aniline and imidazole derivative.

Antazoline (ATC R01AC04, ATC R06AX05) has antihistamine and antallergic properties. The effects are due to competitive antagonism at histamine H1 receptors. This reverses the effects of histamine, which is involved in the development of the allergic reaction.
