Antifibrinolytics

Definition

Antifibrinolytics are drugs that inhibit the dissolution of fibrin and thus the development of bleeding.

Effects

Antifibrinolytic: inhibit the dissolution of fibrin and reduce blood loss due to generalized or locally increased fibrinolytic activity.

Mechanism of action

Antifibrinolytics are direct or indirect inhibitors of plasmin, which cleaves fibrin.
