The following are the most important diseases or complications that may be co-morbid due to anxiety disorders:

Factors affecting health status and leading to health care utilization (Z00-Z99).

  • Suicide (suicide)

Cardiovascular system (I00-I99)

  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Coronary heart disease/ischemic heart disease (IHD; ischemic heart disease); incidence: 3% of individuals without anxiety disorder vs. 6.1% with health anxiety (sex-adjusted doubling of risk (hazard ratio, HR 2.12))

Psyche – Nervous System (F00-F99; G00-G99).

  • Alcohol abuse (alcohol dependence)
  • Depression
  • Ejaculatio praecox (premature ejaculation)
  • Erectile dysfunction (ED; erectile dysfunction).
  • Insomnia (sleep disorders)
  • Libido disorders of the woman / man
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) [due to traumatization of mental illness].
  • Somatoform disorders – form of mental illness that leads to physical symptoms without physical findings would have to be collected.
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorders

Symptoms and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings not elsewhere classified (R00-R99).

  • Speech/language disorders.
  • Suicidality (suicidal tendencies)

  • Addictions, especially to medications (for example, benzodiazepines).
  • Fear of anxiety
  • Engaging in dangerous hobbies, undertakings to overcompensate.
  • Limitation of the quality of life
  • Loss of control
