Application and dosage | Ulcogant®

Application and dosage

Tablets and suspension are applied and dosed in the same scheme. If you suffer from a duodenal ulcer, take Ulcogant® 4 times a day. This can be done by 4×1 sachet/tablet or 2×2 sachets/tablet.

In case of gastric ulcers and reflux-related inflammation of the esophagus (reflux esophagitis), 4×1 sachet/tablet per day is recommended. If you are taking Ulcogant® for the prophylaxis of recurrent ulcers (recurrence prophylaxis), you should take 2×1 sachet/tablet per day. An ulcer should be treated within 4-6 weeks by taking Ulcogant®.

If there is no improvement after this time, you should consult your doctor. Under certain circumstances, the treatment can be extended up to 12 weeks. A reflux esophagitis should be treated with Ulcogant® for 6-12 weeks.

If Ulcogant® is used for prophylaxis, it can be taken over a period of 6-12 months. If Ulcogant® is used for therapy, 4 sachet contents/tablets per day are taken. These are distributed over the day as follows: 1 sachet/tablet is taken before each of the three daily meals.

The 4th sachet content is taken shortly before going to bed. For relapse prevention, 2 bags/tablets are taken per day. Here, 1 sachet/tablet is taken after getting up and the second sachet before bedtime. Ulcogant® should be taken on an empty stomach.

Taking Ulcogant® can cause constipation. Occasional side effects may include diarrhea, nausea or dry mouth. In rare cases, Ulcogant® can cause dizziness, a feeling of fullness, skin rash, itching, but also stomach stones. If side effects occur, you are advised to inform a doctor.
