Application during the breastfeeding period | ThermaCare® Heat Patch

Application during the breastfeeding period

In principle, the use of ThermaCare® heat plasters is harmless during the nursing period. No active ingredients are transferred from the product to the mother’s body, so there is no danger to the baby even when breastfeeding. One should only make sure that the baby itself is not exposed to the heat released by the patch and it should never be used directly on the baby.

ThermaCare® Ointment

In addition to the ThermaCare® thermal patches, the manufacturer of this product also offers an ointment for treating muscle tension and joint pain. This so-called ThermaCare® pain gel contains the active ingredient Felbinac and, unlike the ThermaCare heat plasters, can only be purchased in pharmacies (pharmacy required). A prescription is not required either.

It is a transparent gel which can be applied directly to the affected area in case of pulled or bruised muscles. The ointment unfolds its effect primarily via the active ingredient Felbinac from the group of so-called NSARs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). These have a pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effect.

In contrast to ThermaCare® heat plasters, an active ingredient has a direct effect on the body. In addition, the ointment has a cooling effect, which is desirable for newly occurring injuries. It is therefore not advisable to combine the ointment with the ThermaCare heat patches.

In addition, the ointment should be avoided in the case of certain diseases or only used after consulting a doctor. These include kidney diseases in particular, which are associated with limited kidney function.
