The extraction and application of Bach flower essences

As simple as the appearance of most Bach flowers is the manufacturing process that Edward Bach found, or found again. Indians are said to have used similar methods to obtain medicine. To extract the soul or essence (not to be confused with the term essence from chemistry) of the plant from the plant body, Bach used the sun method or the cooking method.

He used the sun method for all Bach flowers that bloom in late spring and summer when the sun has reached its full power. This means that on a sunny, cloudless day the flowers are picked in the morning. They are placed in a bowl of spring water until the surface is densely covered.

This bowl remains in the sun until the so-called essence has been transferred into the water. This water forms the basic substance for the production of the storage bottles or “stockbottles”. It is preserved with alcohol.

Plants that blossom very early in the year without the sun having reached its full strength are obtained by means of the “cooking method”. Here the collected flowers are boiled in spring water, filtered several times and also preserved with alcohol, stored in storage bottles before being used. Bach saw the following advantages in this seemingly simple production method: No destruction of the plant is necessary, the flower is picked at the stage of full ripeness (shortly before dropping off) and very little time passes between picking and preparation.

This means that hardly any energy is lost. The forces of the four elements play together: The so-called “stockbottles” or storage bottles contain the Bach flowers in concentrated form and must be diluted to intake strength. According to the manufacturer of the flower concentrates, Dr. Edward Bach Centre in England, the Bach Flowers can be safely taken by people of all ages.

Side effects or harmful influences have not become known in 55 years. It is possible to take medicines (from conventional medicine, natural medicine, homeopathy) at the same time and they do not alter their effect. Of course, this only applies if used exclusively according to instructions! – Earth and air to bring the plant to maturity
