Application

Umckaloablo® is used for acute inflammation of the bronchi (bronchitis). It can also be used for non-purulent tonsillitis or sinusitis.

Take Umckaloabo® as directed in the package insert. The drops should be taken three times a day (morning, noon, evening) with some liquid. Infants aged 1-5 years should take 3 x 10 drops.

Children aged 6-12 years should take 3 x 20 drops. Adolescents from 12 years of age and adults can take 30 drops 3 times a day. It is recommended that Umckaloabo drops be taken for several days after the symptoms of the disease have subsided to prevent a relapse. However, the intake should not exceed a period of 3 weeks.

Fields of application

There are no traditional areas of application in Europe due to the relatively short time to market. In South African folk medicine, Umckaloabo is used to treat not only respiratory disease but also diarrhea, gastrointestinal disorders, menstrual disorders and liver disease. As early as the 1920s, a successful treatment of tuberculosis with Umckaloabo by the Englishman Charles Stevens received scientific recognition.

With the development of synthetic drugs, the Umckaloabo extract was again forgotten by doctors and researchers. The South African root extract only experienced a renaissance in the seventies. In the meantime, there are several scientific studies that prove its effectiveness.

Further studies are currently underway. Fields of application in the European medicine of Umkaloabo are :

  • Acute or pre-acute infections of the respiratory tract
  • Chronic infection of the airways
  • Bronchitis
  • Sinusitis
  • Tonsillitis
  • Noses – Throat – Inflammation

In the case of sinusitis, symptoms such as headaches, rhinitis with impeded nasal breathing, viscous mucus and fever occur. You can take Umckaloablo® to relieve the symptoms.

It has an expectorant effect. If you suffer from sore throat, you can take Umckaloablo®. A sore throat is often a symptom of a cold.

Umckaloablo® prevents the penetration and attachment of pathogens to the surfaces of mucous membranes. In addition, it prevents the proliferation of bacteria and strengthens the immune system. It has an expectorant effect and is beneficial for sore throats.

Angina tonsillaris (tonsillitis, streptococcal angina) is an acute inflammation of the palatal tonsils caused by bacteria (mostly streptococci). Symptoms such as severe difficulty swallowing, sore throat, fatigue and occasionally fever occur. Bacterial angina tonsillaris cannot be treated by Umckaloablo alone.

It must be treated with antibiotics. Consult a doctor and take the antibiotic as directed by the doctor. There is no proven efficacy of taking Umckaloablo® for cystitis.

Umckaloablo® is used to treat respiratory infections. In the case of an acute cystitis, antibiotics usually have to be taken because it is a bacterial infection. You should consult a doctor for treatment.
