Arginine: Interactions

Interactions of arginine with other micronutrients (vital substances):

Ornithine

Arginine is rapidly converted to ornithine in the body, and vice versa. Therefore, arginine can be replaced to a large extent by ornithine. Caution!Additional arginine administration should be divided into several small portions, if possible, because larger doses can have a dehydrating effect.

Glutamine

In the intestine, the precursor of arginine – citrulline – is formed from glutamine. For this reason, scientists suspect a connection between arginine and glutamine intake and their effects on the human body. It has been found that supplementation of glutamine can increase the rate of arginine synthesis.
