Associated symptoms

In addition to pulling into the breast, swelling and hardening of the mammary gland can also occur. The entire breast can also swell. In this combination, the cause of the complaints is usually the pregnancy that is taking place and the complaints are hormonal in nature.

There are some accompanying symptoms that can be added to the breast pain and should be diagnosed quickly. These accompanying symptoms are mainly an accompanying pressure on the chest and shortness of breath, which can occur both under stress and at rest. Cardiac arrhythmia, which can occur in parallel, should also be clarified. The background of the further examination is the exclusion of cardiac involvement. Thus in some rare cases also with young pregnant women a heart problem can lead to the pulling complaints into the chest.

When should you start doing something?

In the case of pulling pain in the breast during pregnancy, you should take action at the latest when there are accompanying symptoms such as shortness of breath, pressure on the chest, cardiac arrhythmia or even pain pulling into the arm. Even if there are general symptoms such as severe weakness, a doctor should be consulted as soon as possible. If the pulling pain in the breast increases during pregnancy and spreads further and further, you should also consult a doctor for advice.

What to do in case of pulling pain in the chest?

In case of a pulling into the breast without accompanying symptoms that does not improve, a gynecologist should be consulted if pregnancy is present. The gynaecologist will examine the breast by palpation and, if necessary, also perform an ultrasound examination of the breast. If there are accompanying symptoms such as shortness of breath or even strong pressure, an ECG must be written to rule out heart involvement. In this case, a general practitioner or internist or, in an emergency, the outpatient clinic must be consulted. The heart diagnosis is then supplemented by a laboratory examination.
