Associated symptoms

In addition to the pain in the limbs, other typical symptoms of a cold occur. In contrast to the flu, the development of symptoms is rather slow and the symptoms subside after a few days. A cold usually begins with a scratchy feeling in the throat, which can develop into sore throat and be accompanied by difficulty swallowing.

In addition, in the initial phase of the cold, the inflammation of the nasal mucous membrane is also present, which is particularly noticeable with a cold. Further accompanying symptoms in the nose area are increased nasal itching, sneezing and difficult breathing through the nose. The swelling in the paranasal sinuses can cause a feeling of pressure in the nose and forehead area, which can turn into headaches.

In the case of more severe colds, a fever can develop in the course of the illness. At the beginning, this is noticeable as the body regulates the target temperature upwards. General fatigue and reduced performance, for example due to disturbed sleep, can also occur. In a later phase of the cold the development of a dry irritable cough is possible.
