The following symptoms and complaints may indicate tinea pedis (athlete’s foot):
- Softening of the skin, especially in the space between the fourth and fifth toe.
- Redness
- Fine dry scaling
- Rhagades (skin cracks)
- Pruritus (itching)
- Vesicles
- Tension feeling
Notice: In such cases, dyshidrosiform changes (small, almost always itchy blisters on the finger sides, palms and soles (podopompholyx)) may also occur in the area of the hands (= mycid). A mycid or dermatophytid is a hyperergic hematogenous scatter reaction of the skin in mycosis (here: tinea pedis).
