A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:

  • General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body weight, height; further:
    • Inspection (viewing) of the skin, mucous membranes and sclerae (white part of the eye).
  • Neurological/psychiatric examination
