Structure and properties
Bambuterol (C18H29N3O5, Mr = 367.4 g/mol) is present in drugs as bambuterol hydrochloride. It is a prodrug of terbutaline.
Effects
Bambuterol (ATC R03CC12) is bronchodilator. Its effects are due to stimulation of adrenergic β2-receptors in bronchial muscles. The active metabolite is terbutaline.
Indications
Prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases associated with airway constriction due to bronchial muscle spasm (obstructive airway disease).
