Effects

Basmisanil is a negative allosteric modulator at the α5-subunit of GABA

A

-receptor. It reduces the increased activity of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA in the central nervous system, allowing improvement of cognitive abilities.

Indications

To improve cognitive abilities in people with Down syndrome.

Dosage

The drug is administered perorally. It is intended to be used primarily in children, according to the approval.
