Healing effect and use of bean shells

In case of oedema (accumulation of water in the body) due to heart or kidney diseases, the doctor should be consulted before use. Bean shells (together with blueberry leaves) are said to reduce blood sugar levels in diabetes. This effect is very small and not suitable for the treatment of diabetes.

Preparation of bean shells

Bean-shell tea: Pour 1⁄4 l of cold water over 1 heaped tablespoon of cut bean shells, heat to boil, boil for 3 to 5 minutes, then strain. Drink one cup 2 to 3 times a day.

Combination with other medicinal plants

Because of their diuretic effect, bean shells are often a component of so-called blood cleansing teas, tea mixtures that are drunk as a cure in spring and autumn, for example. Like a tea blend: Bean shells 20.0 g birch leaves 10.0 g horsetail 5.0 g /yarrow 5.0 g /peppermint leaves 5.0 g 2 teaspoons of this mixture with 1⁄4 l of cold water, slowly bring to boil, allow to draw for about 5 minutes, strain.
