Binge Eating Disorder: Diagnostic Tests

Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnostics, and obligatory medical device diagnostics – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG; recording of the electrical activities of the heart muscle) – for suspected cardiac arrhythmias due to electrolyte disturbances (disturbances of the body salt balance).
  • Abdominal ultrasonography (ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs) – when disorders in the gastrointestinal tract are suspected; exclusion of malignancies (tumor diseases).
  • Computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen (abdominal CT) – for suspected somatic diseases such as tumors, especially brain tumors.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging of the skull (cranial MRI, cranial MRI or cMRI) – in suspected somatic diseases such as tumors, especially brain tumors.
