Binge Eating Disorder

Binge-eating disorder (= psychogenic hyperphagia) is a recurring “eating attack”. These are very, very uncomfortable for the patient and often lead to great disgust towards oneself. The eating attacks occur several times a week and there are no weight-regulating measures (vomiting, laxatives etc. ).

Overweight

The term overweight (adiposity) describes a condition in which a person is overweight and is therefore exposed to health risks. The degree of obesity requiring treatment (overweight) is calculated by the so-called Body Mass Index.

Eating disorder therapy

In our chapter Therapy of Eating Disorders general therapeutic approaches to treatment are discussed.
