Blackroll: Fascial Roller

A Blackroll is a so-called fascial roller. In the original a 30cm long and 15cm thick self massage roll made of solid foam. Blackroll is the first manufacturer of this training device, which is why it is often used synonymously with the general fascia roller.

Fasciae are the tissue in our body that connects everything together: Bones are connected, muscles are fixed to long chains and organs are fixed in the abdominal cavity. Everything is interconnected, fasciae provide structure and support and transmit muscle power within chains. Despite this important task of holding and connecting everything, the fascia must still remain flexible and elastic to allow the body and all the individual structures to move. If there is a lack of movement or if there have been injuries, these fasciae will stick together and cause problems along the entire chain. This is where the Blackroll comes into play, or even as a preventive measure: self-massage for the fascial network.

Indications

The massage with the Blackroll is basically suitable for everyone. Whether for relaxation in case of tensions, increasing elasticity in case of movement restrictions, for increasing blood circulation, prevention of injuries, elimination of pain or also after sports to stimulate the metabolism in the tissue and thus prevent unpleasant sore muscles. Athletes, office workers, patients during regeneration after injuries – the most diverse groups of people build the little scooter into their daily workout.

The mechanism of the Blackroll is simple: the pressure on the tissue squeezes it out like a sponge, old tissue fluid is exchanged for new, nutritious fluid, the blood circulation is increased and thus small tensions are relieved. We do not recommend Blackroll training or caution in the case of osteoporosis, fresh bone fractures, taking blood thinners and pregnant women. Also swelling, redness, i.e. inflammation should not be rolled out. Likewise, cancer patients or thrombosis patients should not use Blackroll or talk to a doctor or therapist before.
