Blocked Nose (Nasal Congestion): Examination

A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:

  • General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body weight, height; further:
    • Inspection (viewing).
      • Skin and mucous membranes
      • Oral cavity, posterior pharyngeal wall, palatine tonsil
      • Dental status
    • Palpation (palpation) of the nerve pressure points.
  • ENT medical examination – including anterior and posterior rhinoscopy (reflection of the nasal cavity from the nostril or nasopharynx), inspection of the nasopharynx (nasopharynx).
  • Health check
