Blocked Nose (Nasal Congestion): Test and Diagnosis

2nd order laboratory parameters – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Small blood count
  • Differential blood count [eosinophilia/indication of allergy, if applicable].
  • Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein).
  • Allergy testing such as:
    • PRIST (paper radio-immuno sorbent test) – measurement of total IgE concentration in blood.
    • RAST (radio-allergo-sorbent test) – measurement of the amount of IgE against specific allergens.
