Blood effusion due to hyaluron | Bruise on the lip

Blood effusion due to hyaluron

In the course of lip augmentation or treatment of upper lip wrinkles with hyaluronic acid, bruises on the lip can occur as an undesirable side effect. Small vessels at the injection site can be injured, causing the lip to swell and bruises to appear. Normally, however, this does not cause very deep damage. The resulting bruises can be easily treated by cooling and disappear by themselves after a few days.

How long does the bruise last?

The resorption of a bruise on the lip takes place through the breakdown of the blood cells that have leaked into the tissue. This is a natural process in which the red blood pigment is converted step by step and finally broken down. Depending on the extent of the injury and the bleeding, it can take one to two weeks for a hematoma on the lip to disappear completely

Bruise on the lip of the baby

Babies and children often bruise their lips when playing or falling, which can cause bruising. Normally, a bruise in babies is not serious and will heal on its own. The lip should be cooled immediately after the accident, but the ice pack or cooling compress should never be placed directly on the skin, otherwise frost damage may occur. If the baby visibly suffers from severe, persistent pain, sudden fever, bruising, inflammation or suppuration, the child should be presented to the paediatrician immediately. Even if the hematoma on the lip is caused by a severe fall on the head, a doctor should be consulted to rule out further head injuries.
