Bone Tumors: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of bone tumors.

Family history

  • Are there any diseases in your family that are common? (Tumor diseases)

Social anamnesis

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Do you suffer from persistent or increasing pain in the skeletal system for which there is no identifiable cause?
  • Do you suffer from headaches?
  • Do you suffer from back pain?
  • Do you suffer from joint pain?
  • Do you have pain in the knee area?
  • Do you have muscle pain?
  • Do you suffer from pain on movement?
  • Does the pain also occur at night or at rest* ?
  • Do you have a feeling of pressure in the area of the nose or generally in the head?
  • Do you suffer from a lack of smell?
  • Do you have nasal discharge?
  • Do you have visual disturbances such as double vision?
  • Have you noticed swelling or deformity in the joints and/or bones* ?
  • Does this swelling hurt?
  • Is your mobility limited?
  • Do you limp when you walk?
  • Have you noticed any poor posture per se?
  • Do you suffer from sensitivity disorders or numbness, paralysis* ? If so, in which area?
  • Do you have problems holding your urine* ?
  • Have you recently had a bone fracture* without force?
  • Do you feel you have been knocked off your feet?
  • Do you sweat at night for no apparent reason?
  • Do you have a fever?
  • Since when do you have these complaints? Do they occur continuously or only in phases, for example during movements?
  • How is your physical resilience to be classified?
  • Have you noticed any other symptoms?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Have you lost weight unintentionally?

Self history including medication history.

  • Previous diseases (diseases of the musculoskeletal system, tumor diseases).
  • Radiotherapy, chemotherapy
  • Allergies
  • Environmental history (ionizing radiation/X-ray/radioactivity).
