Bork Lichen (Impetigo Contagiosa): Examination

A comprehensive clinical examination is the basis for selecting further diagnostic steps:

  • General physical examination – including blood pressure, pulse, body weight, height; further:
    • Inspection (viewing).
      • Skin, mucous membranes, mouth, throat, and tongue [It shows:
        • Onset with red itchy patches (macules) 0.5-3.0 cm in size on the face that quickly change to vesicles (vesicles) and bulla (blisters) with clear contents
        • Transformation of the vesicles and blisters into smaller and larger pustules (pustules).
        • After bursting of the pustule it comes to exudation (secretion) of a purulent serous tissue fluid, which dries up: it forms so the honey-colored to brownish crust typical of the disease on the face and hairy facial area (= bark lichen, smut)
        • Pustules (pustules) in the area of the palms and soles can persist for a long time]

Square brackets [ ] indicate possible pathological (pathological) physical findings.
