Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of botulism.
Family history
- What is the general health of your family members?
Social anamnesis
Current medical history/systemic medical history (somatic and psychological complaints).
- What symptoms have you noticed?
- How long has this symptomatology been present?
- Have you noticed any changes in vision?
- Do you suffer from dry mouth, have difficulty swallowing?
- Have you noticed a limitation of mobility?
Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.
- Have you eaten any foods from canned foods and/or preserving jars in the past few days? If so, what foods were they? Did you notice any change in the canned food (odor, taste, etc.)?
- Did you give the infant any foods mixed with honey?
Self history including medication history.
