It was not until the middle of the 20th century that bristly taiga root was recommended as an alternative to the European ginseng variety, which until then had been more costly. Bristly taiga root belongs to the Aralia family and is native to countries such as Siberia, Japan, North Korea, and Manchuria and China. Despite its good effectiveness, it was not known in Europe for a long time. In Siberia, however, the plant has a long tradition and has been used for centuries to strengthen and invigorate the body. It was not until the middle of the 20th century that the bristly taiga root was recommended as an alternative to the European ginseng variety, which until then had been more expensive. Both plants have similar fields of action and are even found in similar regions. The bristly taiga root has been professionally cultivated in Siberia for years. Especially the name “Siberian Ginseng” suggests that the plant is used as a medicine. The bristly taiga root grows to a maximum height of seven meters and is a so-called deciduous shrub with dark fruits in blue and black. Small spines are found on the branches, and the leaves are oval. After a yellow inflorescence, which is formed in July and has a hermaphroditic character, the fruits are formed. The plant is pollinated by bees and moths. The bristly taiga root is a true all-rounder when it comes to vitality and strength, and there is a reason for this: in addition to substances such as cholorogenic acid, which is the main ingredient with up to 1.7 percent, polysaccarides and the lignans syringin and liriodendrin also ensure the high effectiveness of the medicinal plant.
