Building a flea trap yourself

There are several types of flea traps that can help in the fight against fleas. You can buy different types of flea traps in specialty stores or drugstores. In most cases these are traps that are equipped with a light source, which attracts the fleas.

Once they arrive at the flea trap, the fleas for example, remain stuck or stick to a foil and die. Alternatively, you can build a flea trap yourself quite easily. The trap should ideally be set up overnight in the apartment.

Make sure that no children or animals come near the burning tea light. The fleas are also attracted by the light of this flea trap. When they jump into the water, they cannot swim in it due to the reduced surface tension caused by the detergent.

They drown accordingly. If necessary, the flea trap should be set up several nights in a row. It is recommended to change the water fresh.

For this purpose, a plate or large bowl is filled with water to which a few drops of washing-up liquid are added. A tea light is then placed on the water and lit. Alternatively, a flashlight can be hung directly over the plate.

When fleas occur in the home, adequate hygiene and thorough cleaning of the rooms are very important. First of all, the apartment should be thoroughly vacuumed. The bag from the vacuum cleaner should then be disposed of directly outside the house.

After vacuuming, the entire apartment, all floors and surfaces should be cleaned. Various anti-flea cleaning agents are suitable for this. The juice of the lemon is squeezed and the peel is grated.

Fresh leaves of rosemary are needed, which should be boiled and then left to soak overnight. In this way they are processed into a kind of extract in which the active ingredients of rosemary are well developed. The whole thing is mixed with geranium oil and bottled in a spray bottle.

Alternatively, a mixture of water and various oils can be used. Peppermint oil or citronella are available. Both cleaning agents should be used within a few days. The apartment should be cleaned several times to guarantee sufficient cleaning.

Lemons and rosemary, for example, can be processed.
