Bunazosin is commercially available in the form of sustained-release tablets (Andante). The drug is not registered in many countries.

Structure and properties

Bunazosin (C₁₉H₂₇N₅O₃, M_r = 373.4 g/mol) is present in drugs as bunazosin hydrochloride. It is a quinazoline derivative.

Effects

Bunazosin (ATC C02CA) is antihypertensive. Its effects are due to selective and competitive antagonism at postsynaptic alpha1 receptors.

Indications

For the treatment of hypertension (essential hypertension).
