- Radiographs of the affected joint – to exclude bony involvement.
- Ultrasound diagnosis of the affected joint – to exclude joint effusion, capsular swelling, synovial villi (finger-shaped protrusions of the inner layer (membrana synovialis) of the joint capsule), and bursitis (bursitis)
