May Bepanthen eye and nose ointment also be used in the intimate area?

Bepanthen® eye and nose ointment is intended for use on the eye or the nasal mucosa but can also be used in the intimate area. In the case of minor injuries the natural healing of wounds can be supported. In the case of larger injuries or inflammations, however, other medication or measures may be indicated.

In such a case an early visit to the doctor is advisable. Nevertheless, the use of Bepanthen® eye and nose ointment in the genital area is possible without hesitation. In the worst case there is no improvement but the application cannot harm.

Dosage

Unless a doctor or pharmacist recommends otherwise, Bepanthen® eye and nose ointment should be applied several times a day as an ointment strand to the affected skin area. Whether the cream is applied twice or six times a day should be adapted to the extent of the complaint. In the case of very dry skin a more frequent use may be indicated than for less dry skin. The application of Bepanthen® Eye and Nose Ointment should be continued until the skin has healed and the complaints have subsided.

Price

The prices for Bepanthen® eye and nose ointment differ depending on the pharmacy. Often it is offered somewhat cheaper in internet pharmacies. Furthermore, the price depends on the package size.

Bepanthen® eye and nose ointment is usually offered as a tube containing five grams. This costs between two and three euros on average. However, the cream is also available as a double pack with two times five grams content. This package is sold for three to five euros.

Shelf life after opening

As Bepanthen® Eye and Nose Ointment is free of preservatives that would allow a long shelf life, the manufacturer recommends not to use the cream for more than one week after opening. This should also be observed when applying it to the eye. In the case of other areas of application such as the nasal mucous membrane or the lips, there is also no risk if the cream is still used after a longer period of time.

At best, there may be a decreasing effect. As long as the cream still looks normal and has not changed in smell or consistency, it can still be used without hesitation. However, Bepanthen® Eye and Nose Ointment, once applied to the nose, should not be used on the eye afterwards.
