  • Brucellosis – infectious disease caused by various types of the genus Brucella.

  • Malaria – infectious disease caused by plasmodia (parasitic protozoa), which occurs mainly in tropical and subtropical regions.
  • Typhoid fever – infectious disease caused by the serovar Typhi of the bacterial species Salmonella enterica.
  • Visceral leishmaniasis (synonyms: Dum-Dum fever, black fever or Kala-azar; infectious disease caused by obligate intracellular protozoan parasites of the genus Leishmania (pathogens are L. donovani, in Europe L. infantum); it is thereby the internal organs (Latin: viscera = intestines) are affected.
