Chronic Myeloid Leukemia: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML).

Family history

  • What is the general health status of your relatives?
  • Are there any hereditary diseases in your family?

Social history

  • What is your profession?
  • Are you exposed to harmful working substances in your profession?

Current medical history/systemic medical history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Have you noticed any changes such as fatigue, pallor, or general feeling of illness?
  • Do you suffer from loss of appetite and weight loss?
  • Have you noticed an increased tendency to bleed?
  • Do you have a fever or other signs of infection?
  • Do you suffer from night sweats?
  • Do you have bone pain?
  • Do you have upper abdominal discomfort?

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Are you overweight? Please tell us your body weight (in kg) and height (in cm).
  • Has your appetite changed?
  • Do you smoke? If so, how many cigarettes, cigars, or pipes per day?
  • Do you drink alcohol? If yes, what drink(s) and how many glasses per day?
  • Do you use drugs? If yes, what drugs and how often per day or per week?
