No medicines containing clonixin are approved in many countries, but other NSAIDs are available that can be used as substitutes. Clonix 300 mg capsules are available in Portugal.
Structure and properties
Clonixin (C13H11ClN2O2, Mr = 262.7 g/mol) is a derivative of nicotinic acid and aniline. It is structurally related to other NSAIDs.
Effects
Clonixin (ATC N02B) has analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties. The effects are due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis through inhibition of cyclooxygenase. Clonixin has a half-life of approximately 5 hours.
Indications
For the treatment of pain, fever, and inflammatory conditions.
Dosage
According to the SmPC. Capsules are usually taken every 4 to 6 hours.

Adverse effects
Possible adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, stomach burning, and central disturbances such as dizziness, headache, and lightheadedness. As with all NSAIDs, serious side effects may rarely occur.
