Co-payments | Physiotherapy after pregnancy

Co-payments

During pregnancy and childbirth, the examinations and prescribed services are fully covered by the health insurance company, as is the prescription for physiotherapy or massage. Birth preparation courses are subsidized differently depending on the provider. From the 6th day after the birth, the services are subject to additional payment.

During the maternity protection period, the health insurance provides financial support on a daily basis. Services such as physiotherapy must be prescribed in connection with the pregnancy in order to be covered by the health insurance. If the pregnancy cannot be identified as the sole reason for back pain, for example, which is often the case, the co-payment must be paid as usual. Repatriation courses are covered by most health insurance companies, but here too, depending on the provider of the course, the health insurance company must be consulted beforehand.

Further therapeutic measures

In addition to the exercises to restore muscular function and physiological posture, it is also useful to manually treat the stressed structures. For this purpose, techniques for loosening adhesions are available. Fascial techniques loosen the connective tissue skins from the muscles and thus enable a physiological shifting of the structures.

Tension is released and mobility is improved. Additional connective tissue massages are a good way to achieve this. Trigger points can also be treated.

Muscles that have been unilaterally loaded for a long time, for example in the area of the lower back, develop trigger points due to the lack of nutrition of the tissue. These are pain points that can also cause radiating symptoms. Simple massage applications also release tension and shut down the vegetative nervous system, which can reduce stress.

At the end of the pregnancy, no heat application should take place. This is no longer a problem after delivery and can be used as a supplement to detonate the muscles. As further therapeutic measures after pregnancy, a course program should also be considered. Aquafitness, back fitness courses or similar offers are usually subsidized by the health insurance companies. Information about special mother-child offers can be obtained and consultation with the health insurance company can be held.
