Cola Tree: Effect and Side Effects

Kola seeds have a stimulating effect, which can be attributed to the content of caffeine. They exert a stimulating effect on the heart and the central nervous system; at the heart, for example, this is manifested by an increase in heart rate (positive chronotropy).

Other effects of cola seeds

Weak diuretic effects have been demonstrated in patient studies. Some animal studies further provided evidence that kola seeds promote gastric juice secretion. According to some authors, caffeine from cola extracts is absorbed more slowly than in its pure form.

Side effects of cola

Side effects may occur, but especially in overdose, overexcitability, sleep disturbances, nervous restlessness, as well as stomach disorders.

What are the interactions

Simultaneous intake of psychostimulant drugs or intake of caffeine-containing beverages may increase the effect of preparations from cola seeds.
