Cold sore cream with lemon balm extract is no longer available in many countries. Valverde cold sore cream and Lomaherpan cream are no longer distributed.
Structure and properties
The cream contains a standardized dry extract of lemon balm leaves with a defined amount of rosmarinic acid.
Effects
Melissa extract has antiviral properties. It protects the cells from the penetration of the viruses. The cream relieves symptoms and shortens the duration of the disease.
Indications
For local treatment of cold sores.
Dosage
According to the package leaflet. Treatment should be started at the first signs. The cream is applied thinly two to four times a day.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity
- Herpes diseases in the eye
