Ingredients

  • Mucilages: polysaccharides
  • Pyrrolizidine alkaloids: sinkirkin, senecionin, tussilagin.
  • Phenolic carboxylic acids: chlorogenic acid
  • Tannins

Effects

soothing, anti-inflammatory

Indications

  • Inflammation of the mouth and throat area.
  • Irritative cough, catarrh
  • Common cold

Pregnancy and lactation

Adverse effects

Because of the potentially toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids, use is discouraged or short-term use is recommended. However, the drug is readily substitutable with other mucilage drugs.
