Complaints after dental treatment

It is not uncommon for patients to complain of facial pain after dental treatment. The upper and lower jaws are sensitively treated by the trigeminal nerve. However, since the trigeminal nerve sensitively innervates the entire face, irritation of the nerve in the jaw area can spread to other areas of the face.

Such an irritation is possible, for example, during operations with dental fillings that are relatively close to the nerves. The pain can reach up to the ear and be very unpleasant. If the pain still persists for a few days after the treatment, a new presentation to a dentist should follow to rule out damage to the nerves.

Homeopathy for facial pain

The homeopathic therapy of facial pain depends on the underlying cause. For example, other remedies are used for trigeminal neuralgia, as in the case of sinusitis. Belladonna, the poison of deadly nightshade, is one of the best known remedies in neuralgia therapy.

It is used in the general therapy of pain conditions and relieves the pain caused by pressure and vibrations. Other remedies used in homeopathic therapy are Aconitum napellus, Arsenicum album and Thuja occidentalis. However, it is important to point out that homeopathic therapy alone is usually not sufficient to relieve the pain of trigeminal neuralgia. Therefore, this therapeutic approach should be seen as a supplement to a classical drug therapy.
