Complications | Perianal Vein Thrombosis

Complications

In principle, it is conceivable that the surgically opened region could become inflamed. As a rule, however, the wound heals without consequences. In the case of recurrent anal venous thromboses, however, it is possible that mariscs may remain behind due to the opening of the nodes. These are functionless skin lobes, which in principle do not pose a problem, but depending on their characteristics they can be very annoying for the affected person (also cosmetically).

Prophylaxis

To avoid perianal vein thrombosis, some things can be taken care of. It is particularly important not to press too hard during bowel movements and to avoid sitting on the toilet for long periods. If possible, the stool should not be too solid, so a diet rich in fiber and with an adequate fluid intake is recommended.

If the activity is predominantly sedentary, sufficient movement should be ensured as a balance. In addition, the consumption of high-proof alcohol, as well as the consumption of strongly spiced food should be avoided if possible. In patients with known hemorrhoidal disease, treatment of hemorrhoids should also be considered if perianal vein thrombosis is to be avoided in the future.
