Contraindications

Patients suffering from certain diseases should not take Insidon® or only after consultation with their doctor. This applies to: Insidon® should not be used during pregnancy and lactation. Especially in the first trimester of pregnancy other preparations should be used.

If it is necessary to take Insidon® while breastfeeding, the woman should stop breastfeeding, as the active ingredient can be transferred to the child via breast milk. Insidon® has not been sufficiently tested in children with regard to its tolerability and effect, so that Insidon® may only be prescribed after careful consultation with the treating physician.

  • Reduced kidney function
  • Prostate enlargement with residual urine formation or with a history of urinary retention
  • Glaucoma
  • Known drug allergies
  • History of intestinal obstruction
  • Cardiac arrhythmias

Interactions with other drugs

Insidon® must not be taken together with MAO inhibitors. These are mainly used in patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease. These include preparations containing the active ingredients moclobemide and tranylcypromil. When taking other calming, mood-lifting or anxiety-relieving medications at the same time, the therapist must consider whether simultaneous medication with Insidon® is justifiable and sensible.The effects of other centrally acting drugs may be increased or decreased, which is associated with the risk of life-threatening clouding of consciousness.

Specifics regarding the use of Insidon®

Since Insidon® has a sedative effect (dampens consciousness) and thus reduces reaction speed and consciousness, driving machinery and motor vehicles while taking Insidon® is not permitted. Insidon® is only available in pharmacies upon presentation of a prescription (prescription only).
